The therapeutic relationship forms the cornerstone of our work together. We will conduct regular reviews to assess our progress and determine the path forward.

Person-Centred Therapy

This nondirective talking therapy sees an individual in a continual need to move forward and grow. Difficulties in life may occur as the individual struggles with satisfying both, unseen internal needs and external pressures.

The counsellor will support you within a therapeutic relationship, stepping into your ‘frame of reference’, offering unconditional positive regard, empathy and congruence. You will be helped to find clarity in your life as you continue your pathway forward.

Person Centred Therapy helps you to explore your thoughts and feelings, such as, decision making and dealing with difficult emotions, in a safe, non-judgemental, supportive space, focusing on your unique experiences and perspectives. The therapist helps you discover and better understand yourself by listening to you with empathy and understanding, using reflection and review.

You may feel overwhelmed and disconnected from yourself but with the support and trust in the therapeutic relationship you will develop self-awareness and self-acceptance to live a more authentic and meaningful life.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is based on the idea that your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are interconnected. Negative thoughts can lead to negative feelings and behaviours, which can then, in turn, reinforce the negative thoughts. CBT aims to help you identify and challenge these negative patterns, and to develop more helpful ways of thinking and behaving.

CBT is a collaborative process, where you and your therapist will work together to develop goals and strategies for change. You will also learn new skills for coping with difficult situations and managing your emotions. Techniques that could be applied include:

Cognitive Restructuring:

This involves identifying and challenging negative thoughts and beliefs and replacing them with more realistic and helpful thoughts.

Behavioural Activation:

This involves setting goals to increase participation in activities that are enjoyable and rewarding.

Exposure Therapy:

This involves gradually exposing yourself to situations that you fear or avoid, in order to reduce your anxiety.

Relaxation Techniques:

This involves learning and practicing techniques to help you relax and manage stress.
